The foreshore park is one of the most significant parks within the Golden Bay estate, located close to
EPCΛD were appointed to deliver an exciting new civic space set within the Eaton Centre. The commercial heart of this development had to form a privately owned civic space. Working closely with Buchan Group, the new Town Square is designed as a vibrant and multifunctional community hub, inspired by the surrounding Jarrah, Marri, and Tuart forests and the region’s historical timber mills.
This space is designed to be a destination as well as being a community-based place. The design integrates sculptural play areas, seating, furniture, and natural materials to create a distinctive urban space that reflects the local heritage. The square accommodates diverse activities, including family fun, relaxation, play, and community events, with ground-floor retail, al fresco dining, and food and beverage tenancies activating its edges.
The landscape emphasises a blend of native and non-native tree species, creating a layered canopy that provides shade while maintaining sunny areas for varied uses. Perimeter mass tree planting forms a linear woodland verge, mirroring the native vegetation along nearby highways and streets. These elements combined with deep soil planting and sustainable design practices to foster a connection to the area’s biodiversity and enhance the overall environmental appeal of the space.
Key features include a large, turf-covered event space for seasonal activities like an ice-skating rink and a Christmas tree, as well as sculptural play elements reflecting the historical timber industry. Pedestrian pathways link the Town Square to the surrounding
