The landscape design of the Food Innovation Precinct reflects the natural beauty and agricultural heritage of Western Australia’s Peel region. A blend of indigenous plant species, structured planting bands, and unifying materials creates a sustainable, attractive setting. Climbing plants on steel-framed signage and exposed steel panels inspired by agricultural furrows help link the built form to its surroundings, while informal pathways and native tree groves define outdoor zones and encourage movement through the site.
Functionality and connectivity were central to the master plan, with the landscape designed to support innovation, research, and community interaction. Key features such as coloured concrete paths, water channels, and agricultural references serve both practical and symbolic roles—enhancing wayfinding and fostering a collaborative atmosphere. Inclusive design elements, including universal access and accessible furniture, ensure the space is welcoming and usable for all visitors.
EPCΛD and the architect’s i2C, collaborated to create a unified, future-focused precinct expected to generate significant economic and employment growth—between 169 and 506 jobs and bring a billion-dollar boost to Western Australia. The design honours the Peel region’s strong agrifood legacy while positioning the precinct as a hub for world-class food science, innovation, and commercial development.
