The foreshore park is one of the most significant parks within the Golden Bay estate, located close to the beach but nestled within a low-lying part of the landscape, protected by the fore-dunes from the sea breeze. The design has been carefully considered to provide multiple direct beach access points for residents and visitors, but also a sheltered public open space to retreat, with a major multi-aged group play facility, BMX pump track and children’s cycleway, picnic spaces, shelters and BBQs, as well as ample parking to accommodate increasing visitor numbers.
The Foreshore POS has been designed in accordance with the Golden Bay Foreshore Management Plan, which was developed for the management of a number of key issues including an existing population of Southern Brown Bandicoot, Conservation Category Wetland and a Threatened Ecological Community, an Aboriginal Heritage site, maintenance of existing topography, coastal accretion and protection of the dunes in their natural form. The FMP provides for a landscaped connection between the Foreshore Reserve and the subdivision with minimal impact on the existing dunes and other matters of environmental significance within the Foreshore Reserve.
