The park, centred around a high dune, is a crucial recreational hub, blending environmental preservation with community engagement. Its unique topography and coastal flora offer diverse recreational opportunities for all ages.
Emphasising outdoor activities, it promotes physical health and well-being, featuring a fitness challenge structure and scenic views. Designed sustainably, it balances public access with ecological conservation, with traditional park areas separated from fragile dunes. Community involvement shaped its amenities through stakeholder consultations, fostering a sense of pride and identity. With picnic facilities and events, it fosters social bonds, promoting well-being and preserving natural landscapes, illustrating the value of public spaces.
This park won the award for Best Community Infrastructure, at the Property Council recognising the seamless and harmonious integration of community amenity into the natural environment following significant community consultation. The popular Treehouse Cove and Golden Bay’s Ladder (or the affectionately termed “Jacob’s Ladder of the South”) being key to recognition.
