The Beresford Foreshore Enhancement Project addresses longstanding erosion issues and transforms the coastline. The project involved coastal protection works integrated with a high quality landscape.
This very popular foreshore protecting north Geraldton, was a result of successful community engagement with the objective of gaining a clearer understanding of social issues, how the foreshore might be used and the types of facilities and amenities that would improve and increase its usage. A community survey and workshops informed the plans which were presented back to the community for feedback and then further refined ensuring their ideas, aspirations and concerns for the area were heard and a Masterplan created that won consensus.
All of the area was designed to ensure community uses and a valued aesthetic landscape was delivered while maintaining the coastal defence imperatives.
