Australia’s primary resources port town has been the subject of a program of enriched public spaces to provide the community with an enhanced urban environment. After an initial involvement on the Port Hedland Landuse Master Plan, EPCΛD was appointed to prepare a Masterplan for the staged enhancement of urban infrastructure of the Town of Port Hedland with a view to transforming the West End into a vibrant urban environment encouraging investment. In addition a number of public spaces, streets and parks including Art Gallery gardens and conservation interpretation works to the foreshore were created. The new infrastructure utilises public art as an integrated component of community development delivered through a collaboration with FORM, Western Australia’s leading arts organisation.
