After an initial involvement on the Port Hedland Landuse Master Plan, EPCΛD was appointed by the Port Hedland Port Authority to prepare a Masterplan for the staged enhancement of infrastructure and lease areas of the Port. The plan is a component of the Ultimate Development Plan (UDP) which guides the development of the port to what is expected to be the largest tonnage port in the world.
EPCΛDs strategic plan set out a vision, environmental improvements, guidance on heritage and culture, secure public access, and an implementation strategy.
The interface with the existing town community and the potential for visitor experience resulted in a secure viewing area and an interpretive walk. Bold structural planting bands aid in future dust management and define mass storage areas and leases for bulk handling. The plan provided guidance on signage and a unified approach to the public face of the port.
The masterplan identified a number of key projects that have now been implemented.
- Strategic landscape and environmental enhancement plan
- Concept plans for key projects
- Design guidelines
- Implantation strategy
