Wembley Golf Course

Located in Wembley Downs Perth, the Wembley Golf Course sought to re-develop their existing facilities to encourage families and the younger demographic to get actively involved with golf.

The design around the Hospitality area was a collaboration between EPCΛD and Gresley Abas Architects seeking to build on the existing natural landscape aesthetic for new built form and surrounding landscape design. Similarly the new sloped playground and 18 hole mini golf (in collaboration with Richard Chamberlain Golf Design) carried the same design theming bringing natural elements from the larger golf course into smaller scale leisure activities.

The project required input from the earliest stages of master planning through detailed design and implementation.  The retention of landform was required for aesthetic and environmental reasons and the addition of water creeks and ponds added to the vast use of lakes around the golf course.

The landscape design which extends from parking areas through the central promenade and lower levels, to the playground, mini golf and down to the lake wedding pavilion uses mixes of natural materials. Granite paving and stonework, limestone rock formations, mixes of native plants and shade trees combined with timber footbridges, timber cladding and decking reinforce the Australian vernacular presence.
